Gurinder Singh Mann taught Sikh Studies at Columbia University, New York (1988-1999), held Kundan Kaur Kapany Chair in Sikh Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (1999-2015), and is currently the director of the Global Institute for Sikh Studies, New York . In the past two decades, he has made over 90 public presentations on Sikh issues at 54 university campuses in the U.S. and abroad.
